Psychology Today has some great top tips. One recent feature has 5 top tips helping you deal with your partners emotions rationally. It is primarily reminding us that we can't control others emotions, but we can decide how we react to them.
I'm sharing this link because as a solution focused therapist, I work with my clients to identify those moments that typically are difficult, or result in undesired reactions. We then look at their preferred reactions and alternative solutions to create new responses, allowing them to regain control and be happier in the future. These techniques are similar to helping clients with anger management issues.
