Another study looked at the brain's response to over eating using MRI scans by Stice et al 2010 it showed that the more we over eat the more we de-sensitive ourselves to the pleasure we get from food, requiring us to eat more for the same amount of pleasure.
Another impressive study to help in the fight against fat, looked at how different types of stress encourage us to eat, hold on to fat, or even start to lay down fat closer to your organs (visceral fat) which is much more dangerous and can lead to further complications.
I go through these studies and more during my free initial consultation for weight loss. As people are starting to find their New Years resolutions harder to stick to, I'm now finding more people contacting me to help them understand how their body and mind works together, treating food a resource and maintaining their strength and motivation to achieve their long term goals. And of course it works best with a sensible diet and positive exercise, one of my clients received slimmer of the week and month last week and I'm so pleased for her.
