During my post graduate studies I have reviewed the latest research and practices on how to increase an individual's energy-levels and fight fatigue. With increasing demands on our time and resources, it is more important than ever to learn how to renew and sustain our personal energy resources long-term. Human-energy studies are associated with increased wellbeing, engagement, creativity, resilience, initiative-taking, organizational citizenship behaviour, problem-solving and transformational leadership.

The benefit of developing personal energy skills (rather than traditional time-management, resiliency skills) is that there is less judgement and more positive associations. Some individual's may not feel comfortable admitting to themselves, or especially their employer that they need to increase their time-management or resiliency. However, everyone can recognise a time in their lives where fatigue may have held them back and an energy boost was needed. Individuals might want to increase energy for their productivity, concentration, or motivation. Or other people may find that the combination of different work-life pressures reduce their overall capacity to do either well.

What do you mean Energy?

Do you remember the days you use to race to school, or work? When energy wasn't a problem. In our early years we had a natural balance of learning, rest and play which replenished our body and minds. As organizations seek to increase competitive advantage, demands on their employees can increase and people respond by working harder, faster or longer. 

One potential sustainable solution to meet increased demand, is the renewable resource of human-energy.  I define energy in this context as the feeling of physical strength, emotional energy and mental agility. Qualities we need at work and in our personal lives.

What is the process?

 the workshop we explore what we currently know about increasing energy-levels and reflect on personal energisers and de-energisers in our lives. I have created a workshop to help individuals create their own energy-management plan so they can focus on how they could renew their energy levels to benefit work and home. 

A face-to-face workshop, ideally is conducted as a single 2hour session. Participants will also be asked to complete a brief online reflective diary for 7 days. During this time additional supportive material can be made available. In order to measure the change in energy-levels and the impact on wellbeing and engagement two very brief questionnaires will be sent before and after the intervention.

How can I organise a workshop at my organisation?

This study utilizes current evidence-based research to design an intervention, which expects to renew sustainable energy levels, and protect against the negative effects of fatigue. *There will be a limited number of spaces available for organisations wanting a reduced cost workshop, and provision will be subject to availability. Participating organisations will be able to receive a summary of the research outcomes, which will help them plan future wellbeing and engagement provisions.

 The experienced trainer is based in the south-west, but prepared to travel to London or further depending on availability and circumstances. For examples of past training provision and experience please explore my website or LinkedIn profile.
